WANTED!!! More Fosters

From the very first month of our existence, we have been rescuing unwanted pets. The word “unwanted “is very harsh, yet nothing can be truer. Every day, somewhere or the other, a pet animal is discarded, for various reasons. But mostly because the owners realize that maintaining a pet is just as expensive and time consuming as having a child. And because animals are expendable, while thankfully human children are not so much.

Over the years, we have developed a very strong adoption protocol, tried and tested it several times each year, and have had 1000s of animals adopted over the last 20 years. The ongoing challenge is housing them at our hospital after the rescue. With unknown medical history, they become susceptible to various illnesses if their stay is prolonged at our hospital if finding a Forever Home takes longer than usual.

This is where the concept of fostering steps in. Fostering has become a crucial part of animal rescue. With the number of rescues increasing, it is next to impossible to house all of them in any facility. Fostering is the most effective way to reduce overcrowding in animal facilities. This ultimately saves animals from being euthanized for no fault of their own. Animals in facilities might have all chances of developing behavioural and socialization issues. A foster environment teaches them social tricks and prepares them

for adoption. At a foster home, animals can overcome fears, and rediscover their personalities – all critical factors in increasing adoption rates.

To foster an animal is a great gift and an act of untold kindness. Foster parents deserve the biggest Thank You. We hope you consider opening your heart and home as a foster caregiver!

At Thane CPCA, it’s relatively simple: Talk to our Rescue Team to get an orientation talk, to learn more about fostering – we will handhold you throughout. And once you are

convinced that you can play the role, simply fill out a form and do a trial run.

If you are not in Thane or Mumbai, do contact your local facilities and NGOs and see how you can get involved in their fostering program.

Think about all the benefits of having an animal around at a time convenient to you.

The companionship, the potential of the cutest snuggles ever.

Fostering is so easy to weave into your everyday life. When you foster animals, you are

helping to save lives. Animals in your care can go on to loving homes and animal shelters have more space and resources to help even more animals in need.

It’s a learning experience. It also gives you an idea if you are ready to welcome a pet into your home for lifetime. It releases you from long-term commitments, yet gives you the

same satisfaction of having contributed to saving a life. It provides a sense of purpose.

This is your chance to do something for the animals that you love, at your own time, at

your own pace. It’s practically free, as most facilities will support you by covering the animals’ food and medical cost.

Think about all the benefits of having an animal around at a time convenient to you.

All in all, it’s a win-win situation.
