Hello friends

Hello friends

We are back to warm your hearts and put back a smile on your face with our reports of  what we did in the months of spring 2023.

We had an action packed quarter, between January and March 2023. We have moved on after our name change, in fact we are loving our new name. “ Community” in place of “Society” encompasses a much larger scope of work and group of people. This transition has made little to no impact within our staff,  and we are tickled that our community continues loving us for the work we do, not for how we are known.

Although our name has changed, we reiterate that our commitment to provide care for the stupefying number of animals in need of help, remains unchanged.

We continue being a vital part of our community, constantly adapting our plans and programmes for the maximum benefit of the animals we serve. Hence, although our primary mandate is providing critical care services to unowned animals, we continued our focus on controlling community animal population with the support of a much needed grant from CHAL-USA.

The cities of Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai, like many others across the country saw an outbreak of Canine Distemper cases, right after an outbreak of parvo. The animal community was completely distressed with the steep rise in the number of cases, and we were forced to take in distemper positive animals. While it is impossible to refuse medical care to a suffering animal, we needed to take precautionary measures to safeguard the other dogs undergoing treatments in our hospital. So we set up a treatment unit outside the premises, explained the nature of the disease to the caregivers, and intensified our cleaning protocols. Mercifully, after 4 months of devastating trend, the virus is clearly on it’s way out, bringing the daily numbers from 10 to one or two. Distemper and parvo makes us nervous, but we were able to tackle the situation to celebrate the many lives we were able to save.

We will share with you short snippets of a few of the lives you helped transform in this quarter. It is YOU, our staff and volunteers who enabled us  today to share so many happy stories.

If you still haven’t visited our facility, this is the time to come by ! Visitors always compliment our small but beautiful facility and it would be our privilege to give you a tour, so you can witness first hand how your support is being used. Those who are not able to visit us soon, do take a virtual tour on our social media pages.

Best wishes
